What to bring.

  • A photo ID — required for the consent form
  • Your reference images, even if you've sent them already (saves drawing time)
  • A snack and water — sugar especially helps for longer sessions
  • Loose, comfortable clothing that exposes the placement
  • Headphones if you'd rather listen to your own thing (no judgement)
  • An open mind — the piece often improves with one small adjustment in person

What to expect.

01

Arrival, quietly.

Buzz 3R, walk up three flights. Take your shoes off in the hallway. The kettle's on. Margot the cat will probably greet you — let me know if you're allergic and I'll keep her in the back.

02

The first thirty minutes.

We sit and talk about the piece, look at references together, and I draw the final on tracing paper. Nothing happens to skin until we're both happy with the design.

03

The work itself.

Single-needle and fine-line take patience — most pieces are 1.5–3 hours. We'll take short breaks if it's a longer session. Music is on, conversation if you want it, silence if you don't.

04

After.

Aftercare instructions go home with you on a printed card; I also mail you a small follow-up zine a week later. Healing photos optional but encouraged — they help the next person see what to expect.
